ARTIST PROFILE: ALAN SWANN

Alan commenced a lifetime aviation career at the age of 16 as an Aircraft Electrical Mechanic with Trans Australia Airlines (TAA). An interest in all things technical along with the trade drawing and technical training throughout his career has equipped him well for an interest in aviation art that came to the fore later in life. Looking around for other people with like interests, Alan was one of the instigators of the ASAA when in February1988, he with Harry Margulies assembled a group of aviation artists for the inaugural meeting of the Society.
 Because of his environment in the airline industry Alan's art has reflected the commercial aviation environment and in particular the aircraft of TAA. Along the way, demand has required the portrayal of other aviation subject material but with 40 years in the airline industry Alan finds much subject matter to fall back on.
