Please read and consider the following information carefully. The notion of a Society provides opportunities for sharing and learning in a co-operative environment. Australia by its very nature produces a "long distance" experience in this regard so not all contact among members is immediate. However, we do try to overcome this and hope that if you wish to consider joining the society your experience will be a rewarding one.

MEMBERSHIP

New members are always welcome. The society was formed in Melbourne and Melbourne continues to be the main centre af activity. However we do have members who reside in all states of Australia. Our website was specifically installed to provide the means for members to communicate
with each other and also head office and to allow members to display their work to the population at large.

MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASAA OFFERS:

  • Contact with other like-minded artists and the sharing of aviation and art knowledge.
  • A place to exhibit work - in Society produced art shows and on the Society's website.
  • A place to publish historical articles and references.
  • A hard copy of the Society's full colour newsletter "Avart Australia".
  • A forum for discussion.
  • A forum for participating in practical exercises.
  • Access to the members area of the ASAA website.
  • Official recognition as a member of an incorporated art society.
  • An organisation associated with other international aviation art societies such as the Guild of Aviation Artists UK and the American Society of Aviation Artists.

Membership is open to all people who have a passion for depicting aviation subject matter, be it aircraft, spacecraft, aircrew and ground staff, etc, by any means including normal art processes (oil, water colour, acrylic, drawing and sketching) photography, sculpture, diorama, computer generated technical drawing, technical illustration and commercial methods of depiction, woodcraft, etc. We are primarily interested in preserving Australia's aviation heritage. The Society is not a teaching facility, but the interaction of members and their sharing of techniques and procedures, experiences, knowledge and skills, etc, provides for far more motivation and skills development than does any classroom.

Application for membership should be made on the "Membership Application/Renewal Form" accessed from this page (see link below) and when completed, should be forwarded together with the membership fee to the Secretary, see Contact page for details.
