WELCOME to the ASAA gallery of Gerome Gardiner. Gerome has been developing his passion for aviation art from a very young age and the detail in his work shows it to be paying off handsomely. He believes that landscape painting is central to good aviation art and is increasing the amount of work he is doing as well as the detail in that work. We are sure you will enjoy the impact of his paintings - just as Gerome would want you to. Select examples of Gerome's work from the list at left, below.

ARTIST PROFILE: GEROME GARDINER
Highgate Hill, QLD

Gerome Gardiner"For decades my family has been involved in aviation and the airline industry, and having been fascinated by aircraft since childhood, it seems only natural that my artistic focus has turned towards aviation art.

My love of painting and drawing has been a lifelong obsession and my direction in Aviation Art stems from my primary ability as a Landscape Painter which culminated in my first solo exhibition at the age of 19.

Six years have passed since I first started painting aircraft seriously, and as my paintings have steadily become better over the past few years I've been delighted to have had my work published into Limited Edition Prints which along with my original paintings have found their way into collections all over Australia and the World.

With an emphasis on detail, it should be noted that within each artwork there exist every essence of reality that I could possible conjure, in order to recreate the experience of flight as accurately as possible. This aim manifests itself in the vertigo effect I strive to achieve as the aircraft whizzes past huge wisps of tropical cloud or as the surface of the earth curves away underneath the viewer, in order to induce a feeling of lift or a sensation of height. Within a painting such as 'A Flight Over The Harbour' for instance, it is details like the reflection of the background faintly visible in the fuselage and the mirage-like haze of the jet exhaust, which augment the illusion of reality.

Please enjoy my work for that is its main purpose".
